Outstanding swimmer of the meet was 14 year old Zac dell who came away with 4 gold’s and a silver medal. Gold in 50/ 100 and 200 backstroke and 50 breast stroke, silver in the 200 breast stroke. He also got 5th in the 50 fly and 9th 200 IM.
Abi Chapman swam an amazing race in the 400 Im, taking gold with a Pb to boot, also gaining gold in the 800 f/s , silver in the 200 Im and bronze in the 400 F/s. she was 4th in the 200 F/s and 9th 50 f/s.

The girl’s 4x 200 f/s relay also collected a bronze medal. 3 of the girls swam up and age group, which made this an added bonus, as the girls were competing against older swimmers. But their determination and tenacity pulled through. Rebecca, Danika, Summer and Abi were delighted with their placing.

An impressive results for a small club. Firstly it is a huge achievement to reach the qualifying times for this national meet, to final is fantastic and to place really is the cherry on the top. Our swimmers competed with enthusiasm and determination. We are proud of them all. To train all year round, early mornings and evenings is a huge commitment, but the team see the reward in bieng placed in the top 10 clubs in NZ. It was a huge learning curve for first timers Jovarn, Kiana, Tavarnya and Josh to this level, but they all handled it well.
The team are back in the pool next week training for Short course champs to be held in Albany.
